(2007 – present, ongoing) – The iconic Black Skimmer has declined on the Texas coast by more than 50% in the past thirty years.  We manage many sites that support nesting skimmers, and are studying the reasons for the declines by using remote solar-powered game cameras.  Data from 2014 indicates that some colonies are subject to very high levels of human disturbance.  These insights will allow us to better focus effort and financial resources to address essential outreach messages to targeted user groups.
