An Introduction to the Founding Sponsor and Partners
Coastal Bend Community Foundation awards Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program the Largest Single Grant from "Unrestricted Funds"
The Coastal Bend Community Foundation selected the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP) to receive the Foundation's largest single grant to fund this area's most unique project to date - Coastal Bend Environmental Science: Learning on the Edge (LOTE). Funding for this grant was made possible through an endowed gift from the estate of the late F. Starr Pope, Jr. of Corpus Christi, a prominent estate and probate attorney.
The CBBEP has been funding the well-regarded science education programs of the Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest -- Kritters 4 Kids, Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi -- Teaching Environmental Science, and Texas State Aquarium --Keepers of the Coast over the last several years and merged the projects to implement Coastal Bend Environmental Science: Learning on the Edge (LOTE). This exceptional partnership focuses on equipping teachers from throughout the region with the skills, curriculum and supporting materials to strengthen science teaching as it relates to the environmental treasures that make up the Coastal Bend while enhancing their ability to fulfill the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) requirements.
