Promoting natural resources and practicing good stewardship of the bay is exactly what a partnership between the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP), City of Aransas Pass, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Port of Corpus Christi set out to accomplish with the development of the Lighthouse Lakes Park.

The City of Aransas Pass park has become a very popular nature tourism destination offering the outdoor adventurer fishing, birding and kayaking – all within walking distance from their cars.

Residents and visitors will have easier access to nearly 20 miles of kayak trails in the northeastern area of Redfish Bay. It’s highly visible and located just west of the ferry landing on Highway 361. Texas Parks and Wildlife established the winding trails through the waterway behind the old lighthouse, exclusively for paddlers.

Lighthouse Lakes Park is built on property owned by Nueces County. The beachfront acreage is equipped with a picnic area, a kayak launch area, interpretive signage, and easy access parking.

Kayaking is a nature-friendly sport. There is very little impact on the environment and offers the outdoor enthusiast a chance to venture into areas not easily accessible by any other means.

The park is an extension of the Aransas Pass Shoreline Management Plan that focuses on the importance of protecting bay resources through land use planning and environmentally sensitive development.
