Project Implementation Success
The Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program’s (CBBEP) primary goal is to continue the successful initiation and completion of projects developed to implement the Coastal Bend Bays Plan / Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP). This primary planning document is a four-year, community-based, consensus-building effort that identifies problems facing the bay system and its users, and to develop a long-term comprehensive conservation and management plan that addresses the issues for the next 20-50 years.
The Program and its partners have achieved programmatic progress on 94% of the CCMP actions. Action-specific environmental progress directly attributed to CBBEP activities has resulted in thousands of acres of restored or protected habitat.
The Program’s success in leveraging funds for CBBEP projects has also been noteworthy. Broad support for the Program’s activities is evidenced by the range of contributors, including local governments, industries, NGO’s (need to translate) and state and federal agencies. The CBBEP Bays Council has not made any changes in the priorities as listed in the CCMP.
