(2013 – present, ongoing) – We have conducted several surveys and facilitated projects with our partners in Tamaulipas, and more recently, Oaxaca to develop and implement management plans for colonial nesting waterbirds, build capacity with Mexican biologists, explore new areas for their importance to bird life, and help integrate/align their efforts with international goals.  The projects always involve the local communities whose livelihoods depend on healthy lagoon systems (the Laguna Madre in Tamaulipas and the Lagunas del Istmo de Tehuantepec in Oaxaca/Chiapas), as well as providing outreach and education to school-age children.
