The Story of Our Water in the Coastal Bend

We use water every day, but do you know where it comes from, and how it gets here?  Our new video tells The Story of Our Water in the Coastal Bend and aims to help Coastal Bend residents and visitors understand the water supply and how it is divided up among all the different users, including our bays and estuaries!

This story begins in the headwaters of the Nueces River, near Uvalde, Texas.  It’s a fascinating journey with many twists and turns, water consumers you know about, and maybe some you don’t.  In the end though, we all depend on freshwater for survival, and understanding your place in the process is key to appreciating our water as resource, and appreciating the other users as well!

The video project was funded by the The Rotary Club of Corpus Christi Harvey Weil Sportsman Conservationist Award and the CJ Strnadel Memorial Fishing Tournament and was produced in both English and Spanish. The videos are available to view on our  YouTube Channel, and available for download on  Vimeo. If you would like to obtain a copy from our office, please send an email to  Kathryn Tunnell.
